SPIRITUAL LAWS

Spiritual Laws are laws in the spiritual realm just as gravity and inertia and friction are laws in the physical realm. We use the laws of the physical realm every day, all the time, without thinking about them. They are simply the way things are.
Spiritual laws are exactly the same way. They are simply the way things are in the spiritual realm. Just as physical laws can save us or harm us, depending on how we choose to relate to them, so spiritual laws can save us or harm us depending on how we relate to them. Of course, if we don’t understand the laws, we can harm ourselves without knowing it, or we can harm others without knowing it. It behooves us, therefore, to understand how the spiritual side of things works.
Spiritual laws are principles which operate all the time. They are used by both God and Satan. We can use them also, once we understand them. It is also useful to remember that God will never go against spiritual laws, since He is the one who created them, just like He created physical law.
The Bible makes it clear that the spiritual realm is the highest reality. What is seen is temporal, and what is unseen is eternal. (2 Cor. 4:18.) Heb. 11:3 tells us that what is seen was made from what was unseen. So the physical realm is the end product, the fruit so to speak, of the unseen spiritual realm. And the mental realm is the conduit which connects the two.

Spiritual Law #1 Law of the Canal
“God formed Man of the dust of the ground, and God breathed into his nostrils the Breath of Life, and Man became a living soul.” (Gen. 2:7.) Man is made of two things, dust and the Breath of life. Dust is from the physical realm. The Breath of life is from the spiritual realm. The union of the two created the mental realm, the human mind. The human mind has two gates. Theta brain waves are the gate to the spiritual realm, and the hypothalamus gland is the gate to the physical realm. If the human mind is working correctly, these two gates are always open, allowing thoughts to flow from the spiritual realm to the physical realm, making the mind a canal between the spiritual and the physical. This is hardwired into human biology. It is what humans are. As long as breath remains in a person, Theta brain waves cannot be shut out, neither can the hypothalamus gland be turned off. Therefore, the canal is always open to the flow of thought.

Spiritual Law #2 Law of Permission
In the beginning, God gave this world to man to rule. “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth’” (Gen. 1:26). At the fall, Adam yielded his place to Satan, who became the ruler of the world. (John 14:30). But Christ’s death on the cross redeemed us and the world God had made. (Col. 1:13, 1 John 2:2).
After his resurrection, Jesus did not announce to the disciples that now that he had redeemed the world, He was going to rule over it to make sure we didn’t mess things up again. Quite the contrary! Because he knew that “the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable” (Rom. 11:29 NIV), Jesus gave the world and the responsibility for it back to us, where it was put in the beginning. He assigned us a task when He returned to heaven (Mark 13:34), the job of reconciling the world to Him again. (2 Cor. 5:18-20.) God equipped us for this job by raising us up to sit with Christ (Eph. 2:6) and giving us authority over the enemy’s power. (Luke 10:19) This is our job here on earth, and God is not going to do it for us. We are to further the interests of God’s kingdom in this earth. How is this done? By using our will.
The human will is utterly free. As long as the brain is functioning, nothing can stop a person from making a decision. The carrying out of that decision may be prevented, but not the act of deciding.
Once a thought has presented itself to the mind, the will decides whether or not this thought remains in the mind to be brought out in the physical realm by our actions. Any thought rejected by the will cannot enter the physical realm, and thus the will can close off the physical realm from the spiritual. 2 Cor. 10:5 emphasizes this task of the will. “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”
It is the human will which gives permission for either God and good, or Satan and evil, to work in the physical realm. The human mind is the gateway, the canal, through which good and evil flow. It is the only canal. Whenever we see evil and wrong in the world, we can know that some person, somewhere at some time, gave Satan’s kingdom permission to work. And every time we see something good happening we can know, too, that somewhere at some time, someone gave God permission to work.
The good news is that because of the authority God gave to us, when we see Satan and his kingdom working on the earth, we can shut the door on him, and open it to God. A quick, simple prayer is all that is needed. “God, I see Satan’s kingdom at work in this person/situation. I am closing the door to Satan, and opening it to You. Please come and do your will in/with this person/situation. Thank you. Amen.” That’s all we need to do. The Holy Spirit will do the rest because He is the one who knows exactly what should be done. We don’t.
Most of the time praying this prayer is all the involvement in the situation we will have. Occasionally, God might prompt you to help in some way, like giving funds, lending a listening ear, verbally praying with someone, or some such. But my experience has been that the majority of the time, just praying the above prayer is all that is needed. And, of course, this prayer is useful for situations which we hear of on the news or from friends because the effectiveness of it depends entirely on God and what He can do. He just needs someone to open the door so He can work.

Spiritual Law #3 Law of Multiplication
In the Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13, Jesus tells us a great deal about the spiritual kingdom and the laws it follows.  As Jesus explained, the heart—the spiritual part of a man—is represented by the ground in the parable.
He made this explicit when he explained the parable to his disciples.  “But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty” (Matt. 13:23).  In the very next parable, Jesus says the same thing again.   “But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also” (Matt. 13:26).  The heart/ground will thus obey the first command that God gave to man.   “Be fruitful and multiply” (Gen. 1:28). Also mentioned in Matt. 13:26 are the tares.  They were growing right along with the good seed.  Therefore, anything put into the heart/spiritual realm will increase and multiply, whether it is good or bad.

Spiritual Law #4 Law of Speaking
The Law of Multiplication begs the question, “What is seed?” Christ tells us that also in Matt. 13:18-23. Seeds are what a person hears. Spoken words penetrate back into the spiritual realm and become seeds there. Every time a person opens their mouth and speaks, seeds are planted in the hearts of anyone who hears. Whether good seed or bad seed is planted depends on what words were spoken.
This gives a literal meaning to Prov. 18:21. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” This is also why Jesus said, “But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil. {of the evil one}” (Matt. 5:37.) Prov. 10:19 adds, “When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise.”
Now, if those word-seeds are allowed to remain, the Law of Multiplication will begin to operate, and the heart will nourish and grow those seeds until there is a harvest. The harvest is the fulfillment of the words in the physical realm whether by further thought, speech, or action involving more of the body. Remember, the heart makes no distinction among seeds. It grows anything, even if that is the destruction of the very heart which nourishes them! The harvest can come instantly, or after years have passed.
One aspect of harvest which will happen immediately is the progression of the thought to the hypothalamus gland, and the resulting chemical dump (emotion) into the body. This will happen in everyone who hears the words, including the person who spoke them, unless it is deliberately halted. Thus, everything which a person says rebounds upon themselves. This is another reason why God says, “bless and curse not.” (Rom. 12:14.)
God takes the power of words very seriously.  “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment” (Matt. 12:36). Every word we speak begins a growth process in the spiritual realm which will end in fulfillment in the physical realm.
Given how much we abuse this law of speaking, it is fortunate that the parable of the sower also teaches us that words/seeds placed in the  spiritual realm can be removed.  Matt. 13:19 tells us. “When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.”  If Satan can snatch away good words, God can do the same with bad words.
When you realize that something you said will produce an evil harvest, simply tell God, “Lord, In the name of Jesus, I tear down those words, and ask that You will remove them and any effects they may have.  Thank You.”  Then speak the opposite of the negative.  For instance, “My child will keep their room clean and orderly.”
It is good to catch negative words as soon as they are spoken, or ideally, to never say them!  But cancelling negative speech can be done any time something you have said comes to mind, even if the words were spoken years ago, or to someone who is now dead.  It is never too late to have God “weed” your heart of bad seeds.
It is important to remember that we do not have a choice about the effects of our words! We are dealing with a spiritual law which will operate all the time, with or without our knowledge, and whether or not we want it to.  It’s just like gravity.  Gravity does not suspend itself for our convenience.  Neither will the spiritual Law of Speaking.

Spiritual Law #5 Law of Faith
Faith is thinking about, or acting upon, a possibility as if it were happening or had happened. To use the plain garden variety term, your faith is your imagination. (What about Heb 11:1? See ** below.) This ability to think about, or act upon, a possibility as if it were real sends those thoughts to the heart where the Law of Multiplication will begin to nourish them to make them come to be. The Law of Permission will dictate which spiritual kingdom is controlling this particular harvest, working inside and outside of the person to make the seed bear fruit in the physical realm.
By holding a thought or idea or picture in the imagination, a person is, in biblical terms, seeing it with the eyes of faith, or aiming faith at it. Think of it as looking through a telescope. Whatever a person aims that telescope at and brings into focus, that is what will be called from the unseen to the seen. By seeing with the imagination, the door is opened to bring what is seen into the physical realm. This is why self-fulfilling prophecy is real. It is simply the outworking of the Law of Faith.
Paul talks about this very thing in Rom.14. Note especially verse 14. “I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.” If you aim your faith at something and think it is unclean, for you it is. Be aware, however, that just because you think something is unclean doesn’t mean your neighbor thinks the same way. That same thing will not be unclean for your neighbor if he doesn’t think the same way you do.
While that is happening, the act of aiming faith, keeping the thing in your mind, will begin to stimulate the areas of the brain which are involved in doing the action being thought of, thus preparing the person for the arrival of the harvest in the physical realm. This is why in beholding, we become changed (2 Cor. 3:18), because “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Prov. 23:7.)
Now, if the imaginations of the heart are good/positive thoughts, the Law of Permission allows God to step in and work inside and outside of the person, maybe many thousands of miles away from them, to bring into physical reality the thing which they “see” in their mind, and have fixed their thoughts on. Of course, because this is a spiritual law, the same is true for evil/negative thoughts, only now Satan and his kingdom have permission to work inside and outside of the person to bring into being that which faith is aimed at.
The good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12), is the fight to keep your faith/imagination focused on good things, such as God’s promises, so God can work to bring those promises into physical reality in your life.

Spiritual Law #6 Law of Supply
In God’s kingdom, the more you use, the more you have. The less you use, the less you have. If you use it all, you’ve used none of it, and if you don’t use any of it, you’ve used it all.
The Law of Supply is based on the limitless, inexhaustible resources of God. With God, there will always be more. (Phil. 4:19, 2 Cor. 9:8.) The story of the poor widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7 illustrates the way God’s supply works. The widow’s sons were about to be sold to pay the debt she owed a creditor, and all she had in the house was a cruse of oil. The prophet Elisha told her to gather a lot of empty pots and start pouring oil. 2 Kings 4:6 states specifically that the oil ceased flowing only when the widow ceased pouring. As long as the widow poured, the oil flowed. There was always more.
Luke 12:42 states that the job of God’s stewards is to pay out to others. Why? Because as Christ taught in the parable of the sower, things must be cast away in order for them to multiply. He said it again in John 12:24. “. . . unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” If we give, “it will be given” to us. (Luke 6:38.)
As long as a steward pays out, there will be more to pay out. God’s supply will only stop when a person ceases to give and begins to keep. When that happens, God will cease giving what is being hoarded, and direct His supply to someone who will send it on its way. (Matt. 13:12.) The rich fool in Luke 12:16-21 hoarded all his wealth, and in so doing lost it all. Rom. 8:32 says that God has freely given us all things, and we are to give as freely as we have received. (Matt. 10:8.)
Think of the Law of Supply as a stream flowing into a basin in the sun. The source of the water will continue to flow until the basin is filled. Then it will stop. If the basin has a large hole in the side it, the basin will fill until the water reaches the hole which empties it as fast as the source fills it. Therefore, it will never be completely full and the source will never stop flowing. And even though the basin is constantly emptying itself, it is never empty. It always has fresh water in it.
But if the hole in the basin is stopped up so the basin fills, the source will cease to flow. Once that happens, the sun will evaporate the water, and the basin will be empty. Notice that the basin lost all it’s water, not because the hole let water out, but because the hole didn’t let water out. If the water in the basin doesn’t evaporate, it will become stagnant, and eventually be undrinkable. Instead of bringing life, it will bring death.
When God is the source of a person’s supply, the person can never use the supply all up, nor can they ever give it all away. But they can “hoard the supply” all up. God replaces what is given away and fills what is empty. If nothing is ever given away or emptied nothing will ever be replaced or filled.
This law is another aspect of the Law of the Canal. The human mind is a canal for the flow of thought, and the human being is to be a canal for God’s blessings by allowing what they do not actively use to flow to others.

Spiritual Law #7 Law of the Measure
This law is very simple. The size of the measure you use is the size of the measure used for you. (Luke 6:38.) But the implications of this law are far-reaching. Normally this law is connected with giving things, or money, away. But it applies in many more aspects of life. If a person only yields 5% of their life to God’s control, then God can only bless that 5%. The more a person yields, the more He can and will bless.
Another way to think of it is for a person to ask how much of God’s blessings they want. If they want all of God’s blessings, then they will have to give God all of them. Because what you give is the measure which God can fill.

Spiritual Law #8 Law of Reaping
Gal. 6:7 states this law plainly. Whatever a man sows, that is what he will reap. This is true because seeds can only replicate themselves, not something else. A farmer does not plant rye expecting to harvest wheat.
This law is also more far-reaching than normally thought, for this law is usually stated in the context of a person’s actions. However, this law is just as true when stated the other way around. The actions of a person will accurately reveal whatever was sown previously. Remember, the heart makes no judgments about the goodness or badness of seeds, nor does it care who sowed the seed. It simply follows the Law of Multiplication and will bring any seed to harvest.
Therefore, whatever was sown in a person’s heart will find expression in the actions of that person. It doesn’t matter who put those seeds there, or whether or not the person wanted them there. If they are not removed, they will eventually manifest in that person in a physical way. A person will do as has been done to them, because that is what has been put into the heart as seed.
This is another reason why God says, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Matt. 7:12.) This command is God’s way of breaking the cycle of bad seed yielding bad harvest in people. Until good seed of some kind has been put into a human heart, there cannot be a harvest of good things.
The Law of Reaping also dictates that seed must be sown before a harvest can be expected. It is surprising how often this aspect of the law is forgotten or ignored. If a person does not plant seed, the person should not be surprised if there is no harvest. If a person wants the next door neighbor to treat them nicely, plant good seed in that neighbor’s heart. Remember, actions are a harvest! Good actions will only result from good seed which has been planted.
This is why God says to do good to people no matter what they do to you. Sow those seeds. Putting good seed in another person’s heart is another way of using the Law of Permission. God now has the right to work inside and outside that person to bring to harvest the seed which has been planted.
Notice that each of these laws deals at the most basic level with how we think. Because how we think makes either the kingdom of God or the kingdom of Satan in our lives. This is why the battle is ever and always and continually for your mind!
